Of the many manufacturers of vehicles for the Wehrmacht, Ford Motor Company may be the most obscure.

The American manufacturer set up an assembly plant in Berlin in 1926. Renamed Ford-Werke AG in 1939, they produced many vehicles for the war effort. Shown here we have a 1939 Type G 917T. A 3 ton model with a flat head V-8 engine, also produced in the US.

Other Trucks of foreign brands played only a subordinate role in the German Reich and therefore also in the armed forces. After the integration of Austria and the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, this changed. The Wehrmacht was able to take over a large number of high-quality Austrian and Czech lorries. The Austrian and Czech manufacturers were quickly integrated into the German armament program and supplied larger quantities of motor vehicles to the Wehrmacht.
